Pierrot Kabarett, Club Inégales, 22nd January 2015.
Commissioned for The Pierrot Project.
Originally set by Arnold Schoenberg in his 1901 Brettl-lieder, the salacious innuendo in Hugo Salus’s ‘Der genügsame Liebhaber’ is barely repressible. I made my own translation so that this setting could follow suit… As may be expected, the clarinet plays the cat.
